Our family page is now at www.kelleyboys.com but you can still get there from the old wordpress link and that won’t change.
It has been a while since we’ve updated here. We’ll be posting more regularly in the coming months. Please let us know how you are doing in the comments or via email!
Jon is running again! Yesterday he raced in his first 5K of the season and got his best personal time ever of 20:30. It was a fun race with lots of his friends running as well. Click on the photo to see more shots from the run on our flickr page.
Yep, he is going to make it.
Actually, there has never been any doubt. Nate has been accepted to ASU (Appalachian State University) here in Boone and has received a tuition scholarship through the computer science department and another through the local power company that will help with other expenses. Through his biodiesel journey and his volunteering he already knows a bunch of people at ASU including some of his professors. He plans to double major in Computer Science and Appropriate Technology. Here are the graduation details:

Nate is interning at Instructables in CA as a part of his last semester of High School. He had completed his necessary units for high school so this semester has been about experiences. He had an intersnhip at ASU in the compter science department which involved classes, a work group, and a small stipend. He also volunteered with the Habitat Restore, The Boone Bike Initiative, the ASU Biodiesel project, an experiemental wind energy program on Beach Mountain and is a part of a planning committee for the community biodiesel project here in Boone.
For the rest of the semester he is commuting to work every day across the Bay in San Francisco (on the ferry).
Here are some photos from his first week in CA prior to starting his internship here.
Jon and Michael participated in the regional championships recently and swam in the 3-day meet. Barb was in CA with Nate and Josh stayed home to do homework and tend to the doggies. Rick and Deb (Barb’s Brother and SIL) hosted us in Denver, NC in the evenings and we drove into downtown Charlotte for the meet during the day. Click on Michael on the right or here to see more from this meet.
The Spring Dance was a blast. Click on the photo to the right or here to see more photos. Josh wasn’t able to make this one but Jon and Michael and Nate had a great time.
Another great high country dance with friends and families. Click on the photo to the right for more pics or click here.
I think we’ve been remiss in introducing our little puppies Mollie and Maggie. They joined us in October of 2007 and are not so little any more. They are Rhodesian Ridgebacks and they have wrapped our household around their big paws. Click on the picture to see them as puppies. Here are some more photos of them in 2008 here. And, here are some more of them in October at the cottage with me and my sister Clair here.
I got to spend some time with my sister in Michigan in October closing down the cottage and cleaning things up a bit. Photos of our trip can be seen by clicking here or by clicking the photo to the right.
One of the highlights of our summer was celebrating Ron and Marilyn’s 50th anniversary with them in Michigan. We stretched the celebrating to all week and had a wonderful party at Marilyn’s brother Jim’s house that Jim and his wife Barb graciously hosted (they even welcomed kelleydogs!). Click on our family portrait (compliments of Barb’s SIL Debbie who is a professional photographer in the Charlotte area) or here for more photos from this gathering.
